Chief Executive Carrie Lam, Tuesday (3/12/2019), said the ratification of the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act by the United States government, created Instability of Atmosphere in Hong Kong and influence business confidence.
Speaking a week earlier from a meeting of the Executive Board, Carrie Lam said the Hong Kong government strongly rejected the deed and said this was unnecessary and unjustified.
Lam also said the US move was a form of intervention in Hong Kong’s domestic affairs while saying that the human rights of Hong Kong citizens were guaranteed by Hong Kong’s constitution.
The Chief Executive also said that the confidence of businesspeople in Hong Kong was devastated by the deed that required the US to conduct an annual review of the human rights and democracy situation in Hong Kong.
Reported by RTHK, Tuesday (12/03/2019), the countermeasure is taken by Beijing was to provide sanctions against US non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and a delay in the visit of US warships to Hong Kong.
Carrie Lam also said that the government would pour out the fourth aid to help the community amid the economic downturn. Carrie Lam said the number of unemployed would increase and the retail shopping business experienced a drastic decline in October.
